Old city gate from 17th century! One of 2 left, close to nice restaurants as well. There is even an old canon there.

De poort met een achtkantige koepel deed lange tijd dienst als gevangenis. De naam is afgeleid van De Morsch, het drassige weidegebied buiten Leiden. Het buurtje D'Oude Morsch waarin de poort staat, de Morsstraat (tussen de poort en de Haarlemmerstraat), de Morssingel en het Morsdistrict aan de andere zijde van de singel verwijzen hiernaar. The port with an octagonal dome took long time as a prison. The name is derived from the Morsch, the soggy pasture area outside Leiden. The buurtje D'Oude Morsch where the gate is, Morse Street (between the gate and the Haarlemmerstraat) Morssingel and Morsdistrict refer to the other side of the canal at this.
