This is just one of the many places to view humpback whales while they are here in Hawaiian waters to give birth and mate. The area between south and west Maui and the shadow islands (Molokai, Lanai, and Kaho'olawe) is known as "the bathtub" because of its warm shallow waters and preference for birthing (which means sighting). Just visit any beach between November and May on Maui and you will pretty much be guaranteed a front row seat to the antics of the largest mammals on earth. Bring your binoculars for even more fun. I highly recommend booking a whale watching tour on a boat while you're here during whale season. It's an experience you'll never forget.

During whale season (December-March) you can stop here, look out over the ocean and see the whales. Truly a beautiful sight!
