Some sand bars, but mainly river rock shore at a wide, deep section of the American River North Fork. You can dive in from the shoreline and swim, bring floaties and not get swept downriver, and hike upriver and find more privacy as desired. This spot is well-traveled despite the road. There can be knuckleheads, but I have personally not had any problems. 4-wheel drive is not necessary, but I have pulled out many sedans and SUVs that get stuck – and yet I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find a BMW 3 series and several Subaru Outbacks in the parking area. You will be fine if you have ground clearance and common sense as a motorist.

Right down the road from house - Great swimming hole in the N. Fork of the American River with rocks to jump from and rope swings. AWD vehicles recommended. Lots of fun - great hang out for a hot day!
