The world-first solar train runs a return shuttle service for the three-kilometre journey between ‘North Beach Station’ in Sunrise Beach and the ‘Byron Beach’ platform adjacent to the Shirley Street level crossing. Both have disabled access, seating, shelter and bicycle racks. Catch the solar train and then walk to Elements Resort poolside bar for a refreshing drink and maybe a snack (or their restaurant, which is open to the public, too) or visit Sun Bistro for lunch. NOTE: Elements Resort is a great place for breakfast, an afternoon tipple - or dinner - but ask to sit where you can see the pool. View timetable online. Fantastic mini trip on the Solar Train takes you out to Elements Resort for a nice drink and snacks by the pool. Or visit Habitat for a little shopping and enjoy the cafe.
How many people do you know who have travelled on a solar-powered train? Be the first to astonish your friends with your story ;)
Calling this public transportation might be stretching it a bit much :) but this train is a scenic way of getting into Byron and dodging the awful traffic.
