Lovely secluded and sheltered sandy beach on the eastern side of the Hook Peninsula near Fethard Village. The beach here is protected from the prevailing winds by low cliffs behind. The water in the bay is usually calm making it suitable for swimming, although care must be taken as there are no lifeguards and this is a quiet beach. At the southern end of the beach is Baginbun Head upon which stands a 19th century Martello tower. Eircode: Y34 XW94

This is where the first landing by a military force of Normans occurred in the late 12th Century. Raymond le Gros made a fortified camp on the headland and defeated a force of Irish and Norse that came against him from Waterford. This battle "at the creeks at Baginbun, Ireland was lost and won" had a significance beyond what the numbers involved would lead one to believe. There is also a Martello Tower here from the early 19th Century, built as part of a defensive system along the east coast against possible invasion by the French.
