The Tacoma Narrows Bridge, the third-longest suspension bridge in the world at the time, opened on July 1, 1940. A little more than four months later, it collapsed into Puget Sound.

Definitely check out this bridge if you have not been here before. You can cross the bridge to go to Gig Harbor which is worth checking out anyway too. (Beware that there is a toll on the way back)
