The Pelican Club is behind Gaidos, on Avenue T. For years it was a speakeasy, then a private club. Now it is open to the public run by C.I.A. Chef Ross Warhol. It is loosely associated with Gaidos and though I am not a Gaidos fan, The Pelican Club is pretty good. I would characterize the food as upscale southern / creole / seafood. The menu changes seasonally. It is a good date night option, but not a great place to bring the kids. It is upscale, yet not too stuffy. Great innovative cocktails and wine list. A solid beer and whiskey collection. All of the food is pretty rich ... you might consider skipping a meal or two prior to arrival. :-) Rudy and Paco would be my first upscale choice ... Pelican Club works if you can't get a reservation at Rudy and Paco.
