Great views from a shortish walk to the top. Variety of routes up and down available. Stop off at Ford Park cafe for a cuppa afterwards whilst enjoying their lovely garden.
Built in 1850 the Hoad is a 100ft scale replica of the Eddystone lighthouse erected to commemorate Sir John Barrow, a founder member of the Royal Geographic Society, who was born in Ulverston. Originally costing just £1250 when it was built, in 2009/10 it underwent a £1.2m renovation restoring this Grade II listed building to its former glory.
A lovely walk up the hoad, when the flag is flying refreshments are being served. Great Views!
A beautiful walk for all, from the market town of Ulverston to see view over Morecambe bay and the Lake District.
This is the iconic view of Ulverston. It was constructed in memory of Sir John Barrow - and looks like a lighthouse. Best visited on Sunday afternoons when the flag is flying - because you can walk up the middle of it for vertigo inducing views of this part of the fells - and it's free!
