This is a nice hike from Sognsvann. Either follow a road on take the forest trail which I recommend. Follow the blue paint marks on the trees and sign to Ullevålseter. It's about 5km one way.

Hiking up here from Sagene takes you into the Nordmarka wilderness region (1.5 hours' walk). On most weekends the Ullevålseter lodge sells hot drinks and pastries. Beautiful nature.

They also serve full meals, and you can eat it in this charming place by the fireplace and enjoy all the old things on the walls and the nice view.

Really nice hike in the forest. Take tram nr 1 to the last stop. Follow signs to Ullevålseter , have a cinnamon roll, and follow signs to Sognsvann. From there take the tram back to Majorstua. About 3 hrs. For a shorter hike stop at Tryvannstua ( on the way to Ullevållseter), and take the same way back to Frognerseteren.

The 5-6km walk to Ullevålseter from either Sognsvann or from Frognersetern is perfect if you want to experience som real nature in Oslo. Put on som good sneakers and head for the cocoa with cream and Norwegian waffles they serve here.
