Curry at Barricane beach in the summer months is a not so secret local gem. We try to get there pre 5pm on non rainy days - the atmosphere and food are great!
A small but beautiful sand cove in Woolacombe, great for swimming. There's a beach hut that sells yummy Sri Lankan curry here too.
The secret is out, thanks to social media... this is a secluded, suntrap, local's beach. A site of special scientific interest, the beach is uniquely made of shells that come from the Caribbean, so pack flipflops. You can bbq on the beach (but you may attract snarls from nearby visitors) and there is a great Sri Lankan curry shop on the beach, but take cash as there is no internet and therefore no card reader!

It has a lovely cafe in summer months. Selling ice cream and snacks. From early evening (providing the weather is good) they sell authentic Sri-Lankan curries. You are also permitted to bring your own beverages. This is well worth a visit if you are at Woolacoombe Beach. 1 hours drive from Thorne Farm
Barricane Beach is a slender sliver of sand tucked in between the rocks, famously made up of tiny shell particles that have travelled here all the way from the Caribbean. It’s a great spot for poking around among the rocks and exploring the path up to nearby Mortehoe. Better still, it’s a great place to eat, with a decent beach café that transforms itself into a great Sri Lankan restaurant and takeaway every night during the summer, serving fabulous curries between 5pm and 7pm.
