Take the short walk up behind the thundering Staubbach waterfall, for a unique view of the valley.
With a height of nearly 300 meters, Staubbach Falls is the third highest waterfall in Switzerland. In the summer warm winds swirl the waters around, so that the Falls spray in all directions. These droplets of water spray gave the brook and the waterfall its name. (Staub = dust) Early on romantics and nature lovers made a pilgrimage to Staubbach Falls at Lauterbrunnen, one of the highest free falling waterfalls in Europe. The poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is said to have been inspired to write his poem "Song of the Spirits over the Waters" by the Falls. Staubbach Falls is one of the 72 waterfalls of the Lauterbrunnen Valley and is located right next to further water spectacles such as the Trümmelbach Falls, which are cut into rock. In the summer the latter Falls are accessible by means of a narrow path and a rock balcony. Info panels offer historic and scientific background information on these natural phenomena.

Lauterbrunnen's most famous and spectacular waterfall. Walk behind the cascading waters - without getting too wet! And it's free! The Staubbach Falls are 5 minutes' walk away. Cross the small stream (the Luterbach) and then the river Weisse Lütschine towards the campsite (Camping Jungfrau). After leaving the far side of the campsite turn right onto the road. The falls are more or less opposite the cemetery. You can walk behind the falls for a refreshing view across the valley.
