For a drink on the back beach with your feet in the sand, enjoying fantastic views over the boats on the river and the sun setting towards Dartmoor. I love watching all the activity on the river, the fishermen coming back or the odd ship coming into the docks. They also have regular live music as well as a couple of music festivals on May and August Bank Holidays with 3 days of music with food and drinks on the beach, absolutely buzzing!

Ambience, friendly people, great views over the Back Beach, live music, wonderful food and in the most characterful part of town.
The Ship is probably the best pub to go on a summer's evening. You can take your drink out to the terrace and watch the sun go down over the beautiful Teign Estuary, with distant views of Haytor on Dartmoor. It can get very busy at peak season, but there's plenty of room outside (nobody seems too concerned if you take your drink onto the back beach itself) and there's always something to watch - boats coming and going, ships tying up at the dock, rowers out in Seine boats and gigs....
