Stokes Croft has gained a reputation as Bristol’s cultural and artistic hub and taken on an identity of its own. Most businesses in Stokes Croft are independent and emphasise keeping things local and inclusive. Stokes Croft’s artistic atmosphere is characterised by its unique residents and, of course, its graffiti.
A taste of true Bristol flavour of life, where you can find great pubs, graffiti and delicious restaurants.
Local! (Stokes Croft/ Montpelier / Cheltenham & Gloucester rd) Firstly there is a corner shop around the corner - head towards Brighton street and its just on the corner. Alternatively there is a Tescos Express a 7 min walk away on Cheltenham road or a Sainsburys further up or another in Cabot Circus. Stokes Croft is great for people watching… you’ll see! It’s very lively & interesting! The Full Moon Pub is studenty but holds some good nights & has cool beer garden. Also the legendary Lakota nightclub is around the corner! Otherwise take a long walk up Cheltenham & Gloucester rd - longest independent high street left in the UK! Tons of interesting shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Its about 2 miles long, but lots to see. Foodwise, I can recommend a local pub ... Star & Garter.... linked with Massive Attack and some well known Graffiti Artists. Also does a great Jerk Chicken! The Bristolian on Picton street is the closest best breakfast. There’s loads of cool shops around there too. Another cool venue for breakfast is Crafty Eggs ... great Moroccan eggs and they open up early ish... there is a fab coffee and danish place to the right of them. Opposite them Caper & Cure would be good for evening meals as would be Poco... Tapas (very good), next door to them is Jamaica Street Stores which is fab, to the right of Poco you have Nadu (Sri Lanken) etc.. opposite all three you have a hip bar restaurant called the Canteen, very arty and chilled with live music...all fresh and innovative organic food as all of the venues I’ve suggested. The Farm in Montpelier also has a nice beer garden & great Roast dinners. Next to the city farm if you want to check it out.

The Shoreditch of Bristol, very artsy and alternative. Lots of street art, great places to eat and drink with the odd vintage shop thrown in to the mix.
