Michael Soi is a Kenyan artist and political satirist who takes current events and paints something hilarious. What makes his work unique is his use of women—they are bold with big afros and sunglasses painted in bright colours. His studio is at the Go Down Arts Centre, a creative space for Kenyan artists that has graffitied walls. Michael is really welcoming to anyone who visits his studio and happy to talk through his work. His tote bags are famous, so I’d recommend picking one up while you’re there. Everyone needs to have a Michael Soi bag!
