A magnificient place to visit in the East of Ghana is the Wli Falls at Hohoe. I went there in 2015 and did a walking tour to the waterfall. We were guided by an knowledgeable man who spoke 4 different languages and knew everything about the birds, trees and plants along the way. If you have time to visit this part of Ghana definitely do it.
Guests can swim at the falls, can also go for hiking on the Mountain Afadja (Highest Mountain in West Africa) and can also visit the Likpe Caves, both are about 20mins drive from the falls. Guests can visit the Tafi Monkey Sanctuary, which is about an hour drive from the Hohoe township.
The walk uphill along 9 bridges and streams, is all worthwhile when you reach the waterfall. A cool breeze meets you and entices you in. Take swimming costume, towel and a change of clothing for the experience. The fall is also home to thousands of bats.
My favorite hotel to stay at when I visit the most beautiful (and tallest) waterfall in Ghana, Wli Falls.
