The most popular spot for swimming on the Yuba River, about 8 miles north of Nevada City on Hwy. 49.
Lovely swimming areas around and under bridge. Also the entry point to a 20 minute hike to more secluded swimming spots (my favorite included) along the Yuba River.
When people ask me why I moved to Nevada City, I respond, "To be with my teacher, the Yuba River." Hoyt's Crossing is my all time favorite spot to hike and swim naked in the majestic setting of emerald green water surrounded by granite infused with quartz crystals. Even if you don't go in the water, you will feel rejuvenated and healed just by sitting and meditating near the Yuba.

The beauty of the Yuba River is what brought me to this area. Massive white boulders and tons of beautiful swimming holes make this a great adventure if you are up for a bit of a hike/climb. Be aware swimming is genererally only safe July through until the rainy season. Fast currents and cold temperatures from the snow melt make the river beautiful for admiring but dangerous for swimming. Hoyt’s beach is one if the few legal nudists beaches in the country. If that's not your thing there are plenty of other clothin required options, just be sure to stay up stream :)
