Morecambe Bay is an estuary with arguably the most fantastic views over the mountains of the Lake District. However, please be aware that if you walk too far out when the tide is low, there are fast flowing tides and quick sands. I always take care not to wander too far out. Fishing off the rocks near to St Peter’s Church at high tides, you can catch flatties and sometimes sea bass. Cockles can frequently be found on the beach. Swimming is one of my favourite past times, with the most fabulous views, but I am always careful to swim before the tide starts going out as currents can be strong. (Swim at your own risk).
