This hike starts in the center of Njegusi village so you would first need a car or taxi to get there and is approximately 4 or 4,5 hours long. From the village to the bottom of the Njegos mausoleum the trail goes through a lovely forest all of the way. If you wish to visit the mausoleum, you have to climb some more steps and pay an entrance fee.
Mausoleum on the second highest top of Lovcen is one of the most interesting facilities of this kind. Dedicated to Montenegrin poet, ruler and archbishop Njegos, it provides a splendid view on Adriatic sea on a clear cloudless day.
Top of the Mount Lovćen, the views are spectacular. Go on a clear day if you can. Beautiful mausoleum to Montenegrin most beloved poet, built by one of Yugoslavian greatest sculptors, Ivan Meštrović. You can choose to hike to the top, or drive to the entry to the mausoleum. Note: lots of stairs to climb.
Exactly 461 stairs lead to Jezerski Vrh, which is located at an altitude of 1660 m above sea level, where the Mausoleum dedicated to Petar Pwtrovic Njegos was opened in 1974, making it the mausoleum at the highest altitude in the world at the time.
