Once a famous (for these parts) bakery in Bangor, the friars have turned their talents to a wholly different use of grain. Pair their fantastic brews with their culinary talents and a great view - don't miss it! (But get there early because I think they close at 8!)
There are actual friars who bake incredible bread, and make delicious beer. Their sandwiches are HUGE, and quite yummy. Be prepared for a cheeky sense of humor. Only drawback is they close at 7pm (or earlier). ** At 6 am and 6pm you can hear the bells ringing from the Friars' home base from the shores of Healing Hollow.
Friar's is owned and operated by a community of friars in the quaint Rivertown of Bucksport. The dining room is small, but, but they have five star reviews, so they're doing something right. The friars brew their own beer, and hand-make their own bread and rolls that they serve their lobster rolls on. Call ahead before you go to ensure they're open.
Here's an interesting place. A brewhouse where the beers are created by Franciscan Friars. Good food and good brews.
