The Rooster Bridge has since been replaced however, there is a historical marker where it once stood. The Rooster Bridge connected Marengo County and Sumter County, it was built in with money received by auctioning off chickens that were donated by famous people in 1919. Every year in April the Marengo County Historical Society hosts an event in Downtown Demopolis in honor of the happening; the event is called Rooster Day.
