It's not really a 'park' but an official Bureau of Land Management (federal) protected area that you can driver around, hike down into the river canyons and just enjoy a picnic. Good biking out there too.
Travel 3 miles past the stoplight in Questa to NM 378. Turn left onto NM 378, and follow the signs about 12 miles west to the Wild Rivers Recreation Area. Beautiful hiking trails down into the Rio Grande Gorge, challenging, take lots of water and sturdy hiking boots if you plan on hiking down. There is a spring at the bottom of Big Arsenic to the right.
Spectacular views and hikes. There are multiple options along the Rio grande and the confluence to the red river.
The Wild Rivers Recreation Area is part of the Río Grande del Norte National Monument, a great place to fully experience the magnificence of the 800-foot deep awe-inspiring Río Grande gorge. This deep canyon cuts into the mountain by the power of the Río Grande, which goes on to meet the Red River. You can check the visitor’s center for more information, use a campground, picnic areas, a Backcountry Byway and check many scenic hiking trails. There are a few absolutely spectacular overlooks such as La Junta Point that will take your breath away. Watching the sun going down behind the mountains and turning the river deep in the gorge into a streak of gold is an unforgettable experience.
