Our beautiful cathedral and the landmark that makes Cuenca famous in all the guidebooks. Go downstairs into the crypt for even more fun.
Many visitors don’t realize that it’s possible to climb up the towers of the Cathedral! There’s a small ticket booth just as you enter the cathedral’s northern (right-side) entrance that grants access to a narrow spiral staircase.
Take the tour of the new cathedral to see the crypts below the church and hike up into the soaring towers for an incredible view of Parque Calderon, the main city square. Find out some interesting details about the cathedral and the city that houses it.
This large cathedral (circa 1885) features a series of sky-blue cupolas; the interior contains a magnificent altar and a famous crowned image of the Virgin Mary. There are tons of churches in Cuenca, but don't miss this one. Beautiful stained glass, marble columns, huge interior.
