Rope swings to jump into clear swimming pools, natural water slides in the rocks around swimming pools, refreshing spot to spend an afternoon.
My favorite river in Puerto Rico, it even has natural rock slides. I don't recommend going on a Saturday because the main and easiest trail to get the slides is closed. I can recommend a tour guide.
Charco Frio is a series of pools in the river that you can enjoy cooling off in on a hot day. It takes a little while to get to this river. But once you find it (located just off of Road 971 in Ceiba), you can just park your car and find a nice secluded spot to sit and enjoy the cool river pools (or charcos, in Spanish). I was amazed how crystal clear the water was. You will notice a blue color when it is deep. Really pretty!

Lots of fun river jumping to be had here, as long as you’re up for the 15-20 minute hike on a trail that can sometimes be very muddy, and a steep climb down to the swimming hole. Always better for swimming on clear days with little or no chance of rain, as flash floods are a possibility with all El Yunque rivers. Lot parking is available for a small fee.
