From Dorothy’s why not take the ferry to the other side of the lake Take a lovely walk to Wray castle enjoy the coffee and cakes. If you are feeling energetic walk on to Ambleside catch the bus back to Bowness pier. One of our many favourite walks any time of the year.
Take a trip across on the Windermere chain ferry (just drive on in your car or go as a foot passenger/ with bikes). If on foot or on bikes come off the ferry and take the path along the shores of lake Windermere to visit Wray castle. It’s a great day out.
Wray Castle is a Victorian neo-gothic building which you can walk to, with a scenic footpath running along the side of Windermere from Red Nab Car Park.
Lovely castle overlooking the lake. Fab Cafe with locally produced fare, delicious
