A day trip to big sur is worth every mile. This 2 hour drive is full of beautiful scenery of redwoods and ocean cliffs. You can dine at Nepenthe's with their magical view, or Ventana's fine dining. There is an outside library to check out as well.
Incredible views along legendary Highway One through Big Sur. Lots of restaurants to choose from…upscale places like Ventana and Post Ranch, to casual places like Fernwood, Ripplewood and Big Sur River Inn. Plus legendary Nepenthe (get there early!).
Must see if you have time, and don't get dizzy with windy streets. People drive pretty fast, so if you want to sight see, pull over at the lookout points. There are great restaurants and the 2 state parks are amazing.
Great day trip. Spectacular views and hikes. Redwoods, rivers, beaches, and ocean views. Bixby Bridge, Big Sur River, Jade Cove, and Julia Pfeiffer Beach are a few spots to see.
Big Sur has been called the "longest and most scenic stretch of undeveloped coastline in the contiguous United States,"[1] a "national treasure that demands extraordinary procedures to protect it from development"[2] and "one of the most beautiful coastlines anywhere in the world, an isolated stretch of road, mythic in reputation."
