Swedish American Hall

This is an old San Francisco venue that has been refreshed. It’s sort of an intimate space, with an old-school look and feel, where the walls are painted white but there are dark-wood beams and balconies—almost like an old German beer hall. There’s a wide range of artists who play here. It’s definitely not like an all-night party venue—more for people who are interested in paying attention to what’s going on. It is upstairs from beloved venue Cafe du Nord, which for years hosted a lot of bands and is now primarily a restaurant.
