This is a beautiful "palace" on the south side of the Medina, build in the 19th century (a similar time as our Douiria) with a large number of rooms and gardens. I like this palace because it gives you a good idea of how the rich lived and how the people around them lived too - we see the rooms that they used for business purposes, the ones the wives and the concubines lived, where the children spend their time etc. It is worth going with a guide, who will explain the history and bring it to life.

One of the most beautiful sights in Marrakech is without a doubt the magnificent Bahia Palace. The palace dates back to the late 19th century and beautifully combines Andalusian and Moorish architecture. When visiting, you usually follow the tour that leads you through countless rooms and courtyards. You will pass orange trees, fountains, elaborate carvings and mosaics – in short: a paradise for all those who can do something with Moroccan architecture. Because the Bahia Palace is one of the highlights in Marrakech, the rush is usually quite large. We therefore recommend that you come as early as possible so that you can visit the palace in peace. Admission: 70 Dirhams Opening times: 9 am to 5 pm

One of our favourite places to visit, is the immense Palais Bahiaa, with all the centuries of decorations layered between its zellij floors and hand carved and painted wood ceilings! A proper jump in the past of the Red City : )
