A former community center built by and for Galician immigrants, this monumental and eclectic building has the most detailed facade in Havana—relief, low-relief, sculptures, balconies. The “spider” chandelier in the main hall is spectacular. It’s now home to the Cuban National Ballet and, in a small concert hall, they have jazz after the ballet. The best time to see it is in the afternoon, when the sunlight hits it almost perpendicularly. The view is especially good from the Hotel Inglaterra’s rooftop terrace.
