The AT runs through this area along the top of the ridge that turns into Delaware Water Gap, follow the trail across the bridge to NJ, and you can hike up the Indian Head, to Sunfish Pond, or Mohican Peak. On the PA side you can pick it up just off of 611, in Delaware Water Gap (where there are water falls and great overlooks of the gap area) or on 191, at the top of Bangor Mountain. Quite a few of the access points are a 20 minute drive from our Airbnb.

The Appalachian Trail cuts through the southern portion of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area before crossing the Delaware River into New Jersey. This trail affords nearly unlimited hiking in either direction and offers a great day hike for visitors to the area.
Completing the entire 2,190 miles of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) in one trip is a mammoth undertaking. Each year, thousands of hikers attempt a thru-hike; only about one in four makes it all the way. A typical thru-hiker takes 5 to 7 months to hike the entire A.T., and you will be able to take an easy look at where the trail continues from our area!
