Historic Oakwood is one of the three largest historical neighborhoods in the country. 90% of the two hundred and fifty homes in the neighborhood have been restored. The neighborhood is know for its Victorian era homes and gorgeous landscaping. Items of interest in close proximity of Historic Oakwood, The Governors Mansion and Krispy Kreme Donuts.
One of the most scenic and historic neighborhoods in Raleigh, with beautiful houses and mature trees. Take a scroll in the neighborhood any time of year - but especially around Halloween or the holiday season to see the spectacular decorations.
Historic Oakwood is a great place to go for a walk especially when it is decorated for the holidays. Grand Victorian era homes line the streets of this small neighborhood within 5-10 minute walk to the RH property. From RH walk west on Hargett past the Historic City Cemetary. Turn right on East Steet and you are there. Keep walking North on East Street and you will be in the heart of Oakwood. When you reach Polk Street you will be in the center of Oakwood. The neighborhood is essentially bound by Hargett street to the south, Holden street to the north, Person Street to the west, and Watauga and Swain Street to the East.
