This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Town and one of the closest to us. We especially late afternoons and sunsets on Llandudno.
Llandudno is a safe beach to either walk or sit. You can usually park and it is customary to tip the attendant about R10. There are Lifeguards and you can rent a sunbed and umbrella for around R70 a day. You will need to take your own picnic.
My all-time favourite place, any time, any day, any season. The softest white beach sand. Crisp clear water (freezing cold though, so be brave!). Great surf. Secluded and more private than the Hout Bay Beach. The best place to watch the sunset with a picnic basket, blanket and a bottle of wine. There is no restaurant or shop nearby, so you need to take everything you need with you. Parking is a nightmare in the peak months, you may need to park far away and walk down, but it is very well worth the effort. Plan to stay there a couple of hours. Take a bat and ball, a volleyball, a frisbee, a book.... just stay down there and watch the comings and goings. It's just so peaceful and relaxing.
