Ngubani onokuba neakhawunti yakwa-Airbnb?

The safety and security of our community is a top priority for us.

Providing valid and accurate account information is vital for the safety and security of guests and Hosts alike. If you witness or experience behavior that goes against our policies, please let us know.

What we allow

Our goal is for everyone to feel confident that guests and Hosts on Airbnb are who they say they are. That’s why when you book a stay or Experience—or when you list a space—we may need to verify your personal information, such as your legal name and address, phone number and other contact details.

We may also ask you to provide us with:

  • Legal name, address, and/or other personal information. Often, these are sufficient for us to verify your identity.
  • Photo of your Government ID. This could be a driver’s license, passport, identity card, or visa. Learn more about types of Government ID.
  • Selfie. We may need to ask you for a photograph along with your Government ID. If you can’t provide a selfie that matches your Government ID, you can contact us for an alternative verification method.

Your identification information is handled according to our Privacy Policy. Learn more verifying your ID.

What we do not allow

  • Identity misrepresentation or mismatch: Accounts should accurately represent the account creator and provide information, photos, or documents that match that person’s identity.
  • Underage users: People under the age of 18 aren’t allowed to create an Airbnb account or make a reservation. At a stay or on an Experience, they must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Dangerous organization affiliation: Individuals affiliated with extremist groups, hate groups and organized crime groups are not allowed to have an account on Airbnb.

Background checks (US only)

Background checks may be performed on users to identify convictions. We screen for convictions of specific offenses that may indicate an increased safety risk to our community and use that to determine when an individual with certain convictions might not be allowed to use our platform.

Learn more about what happens when your ID is checked.
